Malpigia granatola (Malpighia glabra L.), acerola, granatola superstar or cherry from Barbados is a plant of the family Malpigia. Occurs in the southern part of North America (Texas, Mexico), in Central America, the north of South America, Spain and Portugal. It is a rich source of vitamin C. Malipighia glabra 100g extract contains 1400-2500mg of vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid).
