The pomegranate (Malpighia glabra L.), acerola, pomegranate star or Barbados cherry are a plant from the Malpigidae family. It is found in the southern part of North America (Texas, Mexico), Central America, the northern part of South America, Spain and Portugal. It is a rich source of vitamin C. Malipighia glabra fruit extract 100g contains 1400-2500mg of vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid).
