Chinese cabbage or Chinese cabbage for short (Brassica rapa L. subsp. Pekinensis) is an annual plant and is a subspecies of cabbage from the cabbage family. It comes from the northern parts of China and Japan. Although today it is widely known and often guests at our tables, it did not reach Europe and the United States until the 1930s. It grows in many parts of the world with a temperate climate.
Chinese cabbage is a low-calorie vegetable, in one hundred grams it contains about 40 calories. Rich in fiber, it is distinguished from vegetables by its high protein content. It contains the same amount of vitamin C as in lemon, in addition, it boasts vitamins B, E, K and A.
Chinese cabbage is recommended for consumption as an ingredient of the main course, as an addition to salads and in the form of juice.
