Evening primrose oil is particularly valued for its GLA (gamma-linolenic acid). GLA is quite rare, and evening primrose is one of the few plants in which it occurs in larger quantities.

Evening primrose oil is a highly valued cosmetic oil. It has excellent moisturizing properties, strengthens the skin's protective barrier, makes it more elastic and regulates sebaceous glands, which makes it also suitable for oily skin.
