The pumpkin is an annual plant in the gourd family of about 20 species. In the wild, it occurs in the warm and hot climate zones of America. This Halloween-themed seasonal vegetable is now grown primarily in the United States. Due to its low calorific value, pumpkin is recommended for a slimming person.

The Hokkaido pumpkin (Cucurbita maxima), also known as Uchiki Kuri, is a Japanese variety of the giant pumpkin. It is characterized by smooth skin in a shade of warm orange, it is distinguished from ordinary pumpkin by a more filigree shape, smaller size and a sweet, slightly nutty or chestnut flavor. Hokkaido pumpkin is a rich source of vitamins - A, B, C, E and K - and minerals - calcium, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron and zinc.
Hokkaido pumpkin can be prepared both salty and sweet. Importantly, it should be cooked briefly, and you do not need to peel it before cooking, because it is soft, delicate and does not interfere with the savoring of the dish in any way.
