Manuka honey, compared to other European and tropical honeys, is primarily characterized by its indigenous origin. They arise only in a few areas of New Zealand that are a natural refuge for rare shrubs of the Leptospermum scoparium genus. These are homogeneous honeys that were produced exclusively in New Zealand, which coincides with the flowering period of Manuka shrubs, which are mainly produced from the nectar of Leptospermum scoparium plants. These honeys should additionally have such features as: an appropriate range of specific conductivity, a unique sac called mineral, slightly bitter; strongly aromatic fragrance with noticeable notes of moist earth and heather; the presence of pollen characteristic of Manuka shrubs and active ingredients, including: methylglyoxal (MGO ™).
MGO ™ is an abbreviation of Methylgloxal - a natural substance recognized by scientists as a characteristic ingredient of Manuka honey, which due to its high content differs from other honeys available on the market. Manuka Health New Zealand is a precursor and scientific leader of the MGO ™ method and a leading exporter of high-quality Manuka honey. It was the first to introduce the commercial quality of Manuka honeys with the Methylglyoxal Measurement Method - MGO ™ (since 2007) and has had a significant impact on scientific and official work related to the quality of Manuka honeys in New Zealand and around the world.

HOW TO USE
